Assistant Coach - Varsity Softball

The Assistant Coach in any sport supports and advances the mission of FCS by providing leadership, supervision, and coaching instruction. Responsibilities may include supervising teams at various school levels. Reports directly to the Head Coach.Assistant Coach Responsibilities:Provide Christian leadership and coaching to all playersProvide instruction in all phases of the gameWork with FCS student-athletes to improve personal and teamwork skillsProvide guidance and encouragement to help students profit from their participationMaintain compliance with Fredericksburg Christian School, VCAC and Virginia Independent School Athletic Association (VISAA) rules, regulations, and policies that pertain to athletic programsPromote the proper use and care of school propertyCommunicate effectively with the team, staff, parents, administration, community, and the mediaParticipate in athletic department fund-raisersBe knowledgeable of, monitor, and maintain compliance with applicable health and safety practicesMaintain an acceptable attendance record and is punctualRequirementsCommitted Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord and the Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young peopleRegular in attendance at an evangelical, Protestant churchCommitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behaviorIf married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationshipStrong commitment to Christian educationPrevious head coaching experience at the high school or club level preferredPlaying experience required (if assistant coach, this is preferred, not required)Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including effective listening skillsDemonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive environmentWorking knowledge about athletic program regulationsSkillfully manage individual, group, and organizational interactionsAverts problem situations and intervenes to resolve conflictsExercises self-control and perseverance when dealing with studentsMust be CPR/AED certified or willing to complete certification shortly after hireTeachable, servant spirit
