Engineer
Company: Precision Prototype and Manufacturing
Location: Eaton Rapids, MI / Litchfield, MI
Reports to: Engineering manager
Direct Reports: None
Scope of Position
Develop and maintain production standards, operational methods, conduct cost comparison studies, feasibility studies, plant layouts, plant loading and production routing procedures. In addition, develop systems and methods, and recommend equipment to ensure quality, cost and efficiency requirements are met.
Essential Functions
Verify and check processes on drawings and master lists before released to the floor.
Analyze production operations, determine and specify the most efficient operator methods, stock positioning, and individual work station assignment.
Time study operations and establish production standards for operation and operations where manufacturing changes have occurred.
Design fixtures and check gages for manual / robotic welding on pertinent parts
Work with the Tool Room on fixture / gage concepts and the making of them
Assist in establishing Standard Counts List for packaging on certain jobs.
Identify and research potential cost reductions and prepare written proposals with cost justifications.
Assist in the training and skill development of direct and indirect employees.
Assist Employee Teams in the continuous improvement of operational processes.
Conduct process evaluations for new operations or changes to existing operations.
Establish equipment requirements for efficient manufacturing.
Maintain the BOM and Rates files.
Develop custom process sheets and QA sheets on complex parts and or where pertinent
Create Route Sheets for new jobs and continually update existing Route Sheets.
Make studies and analyze various production operations; develop most efficient manufacturing methods from the standpoint of equipment, machine capacities, tooling, setups, ergonomics, etc. on new products or new or changed methods necessitated by new equipment, engineering changes or special requirements.
Establish proper sequence of operations within and between departments.
Analyze non-standard conditions and compare operator and department performance and make recommendations for correction.
Evaluate labor efficiency and variances; advise supervisors on appropriate action.
Conduct special studies of production operations as needed.
Evaluate and develop efficient methods and standards for direct and indirect labor.
Prepare layouts to provide for efficient plant operation and material flow.
Assist in developing capital equipment requirements and budget.
Perform special assignments, as directed by the Plant Manager.
Requirements
Bachelor degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or Pertinent Experience or Certifications.
Plus 5-7 years broad engineering and manufacturing experience. Understanding of the basics and, above all, the use of common sense and the ability to motivate people.
Metal fabrication experience.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Strong problem solving skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
