If you are a strategic, compassionate, and motivated nursing leader who thrives in a dynamic, startup-style environment, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact on both a growing program and the lives of those we serve.Position SummaryThe Director of Nursing provides overall leadership for the nursing department, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and compliant patient care. This individual will oversee nursing staff, establish clinical practices, guide policy development, and collaborate closely with executive and medical leadership to support operational excellence across the program.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and oversee nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols in accordance with regulatory and agency standardsLead, mentor, and support the nursing team, including Nurse Managers, RNs, LPNs, and PRN staffCollaborate with executive leadership to manage nursing budgets, staffing, and resource allocationEnsure all admissions, assessments, and ongoing care documentation are completed accurately and in compliance with agency and regulatory standardsOversee completion of vitals, COWS/CIWA assessments, EMRs, MARs, and DEA/narcotic logsConduct routine audits of clinical documentation and patient care to maintain quality and complianceRepresent the nursing department during surveys and interactions with state and accrediting agenciesPromote a culture of teamwork, accountability, clinical excellence, and compassionate careAddress and resolve complex client and staff concerns professionally and effectivelySupport staff development initiatives, ongoing training, and professional growth opportunities within the nursing teamSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThe Director of Nursing provides direct supervision to all nursing staff, including managers and clinical personnel, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, scope of practice, and regulatory expectations. This role also supports leadership development and fosters a collaborative, high-performing work environment.QualificationsEducation, Licensure, & ExperienceCurrent, unencumbered RN license in MassachusettsCurrent CPR/BLS and First Aid certificationsMinimum of 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience in behavioral health or substance use treatmentPrevious experience managing multi-level nursing teams strongly preferredSkills & CompetenciesStrong clinical judgment, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of federal and state regulatory standards within behavioral healthcareAbility to lead through change and support team development in a new program environmentPhysical Demands & Work EnvironmentThis role requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting. The work environment is primarily indoors with moderate noise levels. Local travel may occasionally be required.
