This role supports multiple hospital units—such as Medical-Surgical, Critical Care, Emergency Department, and Procedural areas including Cath Lab Holding and PACU—requiring a high degree of adaptability and clinical expertise.The RN in this role leverages advanced assessment skills, sound clinical judgment, and strong technical proficiency to ensure safe and effective care in fast-paced and continually changing environments. As a key contributor to patient outcomes, the Critical Care Float Pool RN demonstrates flexibility, strong critical-thinking abilities, and a commitment to clinical excellence.This position plays an essential part in upholding the organization's standards for safety, quality, and an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic settings, collaborates effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and consistently promotes a culture of compassion, professionalism, and high reliability.ResponsibilitiesDirect Patient CareDeliver comprehensive patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across multiple specialty areas.Provide safe, high-quality care to patients with varying levels of acuity.Emergency & Critical ResponseRespond promptly to emergent and critical situations, including Code Blue, Rapid Response, trauma activations, and behavioral emergencies.Apply advanced clinical judgment in fast-paced, high-stress scenarios.Advanced Clinical Therapies & Medication ManagementManage complex medical therapies such as ventilators, vasoactive drips, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and advanced cardiac life support equipment.Safely administer medications, including high-alert medications, chemotherapy, and moderate sedation agents.Procedures & Technical SkillsPerform and maintain competency in advanced procedures, including central line care, chest tube management, wound vac therapy, arterial line monitoring, and peritoneal dialysis.Ensure procedural accuracy and adherence to evidence-based practices.Collaboration & Care CoordinationCollaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to support continuity of care during admissions, transfers, procedures, and discharges.Communicate effectively to ensure seamless transitions across units.Safety, Compliance & Professional StandardsAdhere to hospital policies regarding patient safety, infection prevention, hazardous drug handling, radiation safety, and equipment use.Maintain professionalism, accountability, and adaptability while floating between diverse clinical environments.Patient & Family SupportProvide compassionate, patient- and family-centered care, including education, emotional support, and assistance with end-of-life care.Serve as a supportive resource to patients and families throughout the care experience.QualificationsMinimum 5 years of acute care nursing experienceAt least 2 years experience in the ICU, ED, or Progressive Care settingDemonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to multiple clinical settings. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. EPIC preferredCompetencies SkillsIV Therapy & Vascular AccessProficient in IV insertion, phlebotomy, port access, and central line maintenance.Competent in managing arterial lines, including setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting.Monitoring & Emergency EquipmentSkilled in operating and interpreting cardiac monitoring systems.Competent with ventilators, defibrillators, rapid infusers, and other emergency response equipment.Experienced in managing advanced circulatory support devices such as IABP, Impella, and LVADs.Critical Care Clinical SkillsProficient in administering and titrating vasoactive infusions and managing complex hemodynamic needs.Skilled in ventilator management, including ventilator modes and sedation vacation practices.Experienced in conducting neuro assessments, hemodynamic monitoring, and recovery from procedures.Procedural & Perioperative SupportProvides comprehensive pre-, intra-, and post-procedural care.Competent in time-outs, sheath removal, patient preparation, and recovery protocols.Patient Safety & Risk PreventionKnowledgeable in safe patient handling, fall prevention strategies, and suicide precautions.Adheres to infection prevention practices and proper restraint techniques according to policy.Specialized TherapiesCompetent in managing CRRT, peritoneal dialysis, and wound VAC therapy.Skilled in administering and monitoring enteral and parenteral nutrition.Utilizes evidence-based pain management modalities.Communication & DocumentationDemonstrates proficiency with EMR charting and accurate clinical documentation.Uses structured handoff tools such as SBAR to support safe communication.Engages in effective communication through systems like Perfect Serve, ensuring timely updates and critical value reporting.Provides clear, empathetic education to patients and families.CredentialsBLSACLSPALS or ability to obtain within 4 weeks of hireNIH Certification TNCC required within 1 year of hire EducationGraduate of an accredited nursing school EntryUSD $38.00/Hr.MaxUSD $62.70/Hr.ApplySubmit a ReferralShare on your newsfeedConnect With Us!Not ready to apply?
