(M-Th 9:00-3:30)Purpose: Assisting teachers with miscellaneous duties.QualificationsHave a high school diploma or a GED certificate andComplete 48 hours at an institution of higher education* ORObtain an associate's (or higher) degree ORPass a State approved assessment that assesses the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or reading writing readiness).Maintains high levels of confidentiality regarding student and staff information and issues.This position is eligible for the Kansan State Department of Education Registered Teacher Apprenticeship. Acceptance in the program is based on availability and an approved program application.Supervisor: Teacher/PrincipalPerformance ResponsibilitiesAdapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.Administers test, homework, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroomAttends meeting and in-service presentation for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.Communicates with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel for r the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing individual learning plan objectives.Assists the supervising teacher in maintaining instructional material and/or manual and electronic file/records for the purpose of facilitating instructions; recording student information; and/or meeting mandated requirements.Provides, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objective; implementing individual learning plans; and ensuring students' success in school.Demonstrates dependability, promptness, and regular attendance in order to establish consistent routines, promote teamwork, and guarantee instructional continuity.Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information in order to remain in compliance with legal requirements and to maintain a professional working environment.Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
