We apply that same mindset to patent prosecution—grounded in technical depth, disciplined execution, and respect for the people we serve.Our results reflect this approach, with all of our agents achieving:>95%+ allowance rate~0.7 rejections before allowance50% first-action allowance rate2% of patents allowed in less than 75 days from filingWe support deeply innovative startups across software, hardware, AI, robotics, medical devices, and emerging technologies worldwide.The Partner Path (Long-Term)This is a long-horizon role designed for someone who wants to grow into a true partner—professionally, intellectually, and operationally.Years 1–2: Drafting ExcellenceLearn and internalize the Run8 approach to patent drafting and prosecutionDevelop mastery over claim construction, examiner engagement, and quality controlBuild technical and procedural intuition across a wide range of technologiesYears 3–4: Strategic DepthDesign and execute patent strategies for growing startup portfoliosAdvise founders and technical leaders on how IP fits into product, fundraising, and long-term visionTake increasing ownership over client relationshipsYears 5–6: Team DevelopmentMentor and manage patent agentsBuild internal processes that maintain Run8’s quality standards at scaleBegin operating a small group within the firmYears 7–10: Practice LeadershipLead a group of 3–4 patent agentsSupport ~150–200 companiesBuild a durable, values-aligned practice generating approximately $5M in annual revenueResponsibilitiesDraft and prosecute high-quality patent applications across complex technologiesDesign thoughtful, principled patent strategies aligned with client goalsMentor and support junior patent agentsBuild and maintain strong relationships with founders, engineers, and investorsLeverage professional networks to bring aligned, venture-backed startups to Run8Required Qualifications• Registered Patent Agent before the USPTO (absolutely no attorneys)• Meaningful experience mentoring, teaching, or managing people – university teaching assistant experience is strongly preferred• Demonstrated ability to reason through complex, multi-stakeholder problems in real-time• Hands-on experience building technical solutions for customers• A strong professional network and a genuine commitment to relationship-driven growth• An impeccable sense of ethics and professional responsibility• Excellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred ExperiencePrior technical or engineering roleExperience working at or with startupsAutonomy & CultureNo billable hoursNo fixed locationNo fixed office hoursRun8 values autonomy, accountability, and trust.
