Mechanical Engineer IIDepartment: Rotating Machines EngineeringLocation: Bothell, WAPay Rate: $35/HR - $55/HRPosition SummaryThe Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for the design, development, analysis, and technical support of AC and DC air-cooled and oil-cooled generators. This role supports all phases of the product lifecycle within the design engineering department, including proposal development, product design, testing, and production support.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign & EngineeringDesign individual parts and assemblies of rotating machines to meet customer requirements and targeted performance objectives, with guidance from a Lead Engineer or equivalent.Develop 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings in support of rotating machine designs and associated components.Perform required engineering analyses, including tolerance stack-ups, bearing load calculations, and bearing pre-load assessments.Ensure all designs comply with Safran standards and applicable industry standards, including GD&T and design-for-manufacturing principles.Program & Project SupportReview customer specifications and contribute to technical proposals, cost estimates, test procedures, and technical documentation.Support preparation of process qualification procedures, bills of material (BOMs), schedules, status reports, and technical reports as required.Adhere to program budgets and schedules provided by the business.Testing & Production SupportProvide engineering support during testing of new and legacy products under the guidance of a Lead Engineer.Support manufacturing and production floor activities as required during development and production phases.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.Minimum of four (4) years of mechanical engineering experience in a new product design and manufacturing environment.Required Knowledge & SkillsExperience in rotating machine design (e.g., motors, generators).Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering documentation, including GD&T.Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.Sound technical judgment across multiple mechanical engineering disciplines.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in developing 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.Experience with basic tooling and measuring equipment.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.Strong interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and reporting skills.Preferred SkillsBearing system design.Design of wound components.Rotor dynamics analysis.Oil and air cooling system design.Familiarity with DO-160, ARP4754A, and ARP4761 standards.Experience using CATIA.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
