General Manager Business Unit

A globally recognised sensor technology company is searching for a General Manager to lead one of its largest and most strategically important business units. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a full P&L leadership role located in California and, quite frankly, one of the most exciting GM opportunities in the sensor industry today.This is a nine-figure revenue business unit operating at serious scale, shipping enormous volume to a broad and diversified customer base across Consumer, Mobile, broader IoT and industrial applications. The foundations are already strong, but the growth story is far from finished. There is a clear and ambitious organic growth plan in place, alongside real appetite and budget for inorganic expansion. For the right leader, this is not simply a role to manage a business unit, but a chance to shape its future.Importantly, this is not a turnaround situation. The business is healthy, commercially successful, and well established. What is needed now is a leader with the presence, maturity, and strategic clarity to elevate it further. Someone who can unite and energise a global organisation, sharpen the vision for where the business is going, and strengthen the leadership bench beneath them.You will lead teams spanning product marketing, program management, application & customer engineering, product development, sales, and operations across the US, Europe, and Asia. Sitting at the centre of a complex, fast-moving international business, this role requires someone who is equally comfortable setting strategy, aligning global stakeholders, and driving execution.The company is a top-tier global player in its market, competing with some of the biggest names in semiconductors, while standing apart through proprietary hardware and software technology. This is not just a component business, it’s a solutions-led organisation solving meaningful problems at scale.To succeed in this role, you will bring proven P&L leadership experience from within the sensor or semiconductor industry, alongside a credible technical grounding in sensor technology or silicon that allows you to command the respect of a strong engineering organisation. You will understand consumer electronics markets in depth, combine commercial sharpness with sound judgement, and be able to operate confidently at both strategic and tactical level. Above all, you will be a genuine people leader: someone who builds high-performing teams, develops talent, handles conflict well, and inspires others to deliver in a demanding and fast-evolving environment.
