Legal Intern
Overview Of PositionISDA’s legal department is seeking an intern to assist with daily legal issues as they arise in addition to undertaking longer-term assignments/projects over the course of the summer. The ISDA legal department plays a critical role in supporting ISDA’s mission to make the derivatives markets safe and efficient. Interns will gain substantive, first-hand insight into the issues facing ISDA’s member institutions and developments in the global derivatives market while building upon professional skills. This internship is perfect for a self-motivated, entrepreneurial law student interested in gaining corporate, in-house experience in the fields of business law, finance and derivatives.Duties And ResponsibilitiesComplete legal research as requestedReview, analyze and/or summarize legal documentsAssist in preparing information, correspondence, presentations and materials for legal teamTake notes and prepare memos during meetings and working group callsMaintain files and organize documents in shared libraries such as SharePointAssist with databases and input information, data and recordsAttend company functions and networking eventsCollaborate with legal team members in various ISDA officesQualifications Excellent written and verbal communication skillsSelf-starter and able to work without continuous supervisionEagerness to tackle new projectsInterest in business law/finance/derivativesStrong organizational skills with ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlinesInterest in corporate, finance, or derivatives lawAbility to work collaboratively or individuallyPrevious legal experience preferred (e.g. legal internship, school-based clinics/programs/externships, paralegal experience, etc.)Candidates must be currently enrolled in, and in good standing with, an accredited law degree program at a recognized law school in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, or Europe, meaning:United States: a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA)Canada: a law school accredited or recognized by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada or a Canadian provincial law societyUnited Kingdom: a law school recognized by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and/or the Bar Standards Board, or otherwise authorized to award qualifying UK law degreesEurope (excluding the UK): a university law faculty recognized under the national higher‑education accreditation regime of its home jurisdictionMust be 18 years of age and legally able to work in the United States
