Accountant

Our client, a Real Estate Investment Firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join their team as an Accountant. This role will follow a hybrid schedule.Responsibilities: Maintain and support construction and development cost data, ensuring accurate tracking of project activityReview capitalization activity for compliance with GAAP and internal policiesServe as an accounting resource for construction and development–related inquiries across internal teamsPartner with internal stakeholders to monitor the status of ongoing build-to-suit and redevelopment projectsCollaborate with Property Accounting to support the timely placement of capital projects into servicePrepare recurring and project-specific reports for internal and external stakeholdersEvaluate existing workflows and systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to process enhancement initiativesSupport broader real estate activities, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and quarterly close processesContribute to firm-wide efforts to improve consistency and oversight of construction and development activity across the portfolioQualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree and/or CPA strongly preferred2–4 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced accounting environment; experience within a public REIT or real estate platform is a plusExperience with construction and development job cost accounting strongly preferredHigh attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced settingAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP/reporting tools such as JDE, Hyperion, or Workiva is a plus
