The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic leadership and expert legal counsel in the areas of corporate governance, securities compliance, and environmental, social, and governance (sustainability) matters. This includes ensuring the company upholds the highest standards of corporate integrity, meets regulatory requirements, and advances sustainability initiatives. The role involves leading the corporate legal function, serving as the primary legal counsel for governance and compliance matters, and directing the preparation and filing of all SEC reports and other securities filings. Additionally, the Interim Chief Corporate and Sustainability Counsel will be tasked with developing and implementing sustainability policies, managing corporate transactions, and overseeing a team of legal professionals. Applicants for this role at the company should have a JD degree from an accredited law school, with at least 15 years of progressive legal experience, including a strong background in corporate law, securities regulation, and sustainability matters. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of SEC regulations, corporate governance best practices, and emerging sustainability frameworks. Previous experience leading in-house legal teams at a public company is required, as is a background in sustainability reporting and program development. The role demands a strategic, business-minded legal leader with a strong ethical compass, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
