Together, we are shaping the future of democracy.THE OPPORTUNITYActBlue Technical Services is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Payments team and help build the technology that powers ActBlue's significant daily transaction volume. This role will focus on Growth initiatives ensuring that entities onboarding onto the ActBlue platform have the smoothest experience possible. The Payments Team's critical areas include payment processing, recurring contributions, fraud mitigation, and internal tools that help teams within ActBlue with their payment-related workflows.As a member of the Payments team, you will work closely with product teams, platform teams, ops teams, and the security team to develop and maintain our payments infrastructure while contributing to our inclusive environment and fostering a culture that brings out the best in yourself and your colleagues.WHAT YOU WILL DODevelop, enhance, and maintain payments systems to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable feature delivery across the payment life cycle from initial authorization to payoutContribute to the design, testing, monitoring, and rollout of our payments systemCollaborate with other engineers to implement technical solutions while balancing effort, scope, and trade-offs specific to payment processing challengesParticipate in identifying and addressing security, scalability, and reliability concerns in our payments infrastructureDebug issues throughout the stack and identify root causes or viable workaroundsContribute to creating and maintaining defensive testing practices within Engineering, particularly around payment processing workflowsWrite maintainable code that follows established best practices and design patternsDocument your work effectively and support clear communication within the teamEngage with your manager as a thought partner on core work and personal development to increase your impact on the team and the organizationMay support supplementary projects as assigned, ensuring timely and efficient completion in line with organizational objectives and standardsWHAT YOU BRING2-4 years of relevant professional experience working with teams and delivering projectsProfessional experience with server-side web application development, preferably with Ruby on RailsSome experience working with or building ETL pipelines to ingest and transform data from one system to anotherA track record of delivering features while collaborating with product and design to resolve ambiguity and prioritize the highest impact workAn aptitude for reasoning about and troubleshooting complex systemsProficiency in relational databases, preferably PostgresUnderstanding of performance, scalability, and security concerns, particularly as they relate to payment processingEagerness to explore and refactor legacy codeA team player mentality. Our roles require extended technology usage, and proficiency with virtual communication tools such as Zoom and Slack. Regular attendance in virtual meetings is inherent to every position.Salary Range Details:Salary Range: $136,611 - $151,437 - $166,263ActBlue is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization.
