This role focuses on assisting students with behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental needs in a structured, nurturing environment. The Behavior Paraeducator works closely with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to ensure student success and safety.REPORTS TO: Building Director and Classroom TeachersSALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $16.56/hour (depending on experience) on Classified Hourly Salary ScheduleFLSA STATUS: Non-ExemptWORK CALENDAR: 165 daysFTE: 1.0 Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday)POSITION SUMMARY: The Behavior Paraeducator provides targeted support to early childhood students with behavioral and social-emotional needs. This position assists in implementing instructional and behavioral strategies under the supervision of certified staff, helping students develop the skills necessary for success in a school setting.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesStudent SupportProvide one-on-one and small group behavioral supportAssist students in developing self-regulation and coping strategiesReinforce positive behaviors and expectationsSupport inclusion in classroom and school activitiesBehavior ImplementationImplement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and IEP goalsUse proactive and responsive behavior strategiesAssist in crisis prevention and intervention when necessaryMaintain consistency with district behavior protocolsInstructional SupportAssist teacher with instructional activities and classroom managementAdapt materials and activities to meet student needsSupport student engagement and participationData Collection & DocumentationTrack and document behavioral incidents and progressMaintain accurate and confidential student recordsCommunicate observations with supervising staffPersonal Care & SafetyAssist with toileting, hygiene, feeding, and mobility as neededEnsure student safety at all timesFollow all health, safety, and mandated reporting requirementsCollaborationWork collaboratively with teachers, special education staff, therapists, and administrationParticipate in team meetings as requestedMaintain professional communication with staff and familiesQualifications And Education RequirementsSuccessfully pass the Work Keys test (through the Workforce Center) for Reading Information, Mathematics and Business Writing.
