Civil EngineerThe Civil Engineer will plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed engineering work phases for the Oil, Gas, and Chemicals Business Unit in the Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) discipline. This role involves performing conventional engineering design and analysis related to civil site development, resolving complex design challenges, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to ensure technical excellence and compliance with project requirements.Essential Job Duties:Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate civil site development engineering activities.Perform engineering work using client Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and 2D/3D CADD tools.Prepare or coordinate work specifications, technical bid evaluations, and award recommendations for subcontracts and material requisitions.Coordinate engineering efforts between Civil Engineering and other disciplines, clients, suppliers, and contractors.Assume a lead technical role over other engineers or subgroups when delegated.Assist in training assigned personnel and provide input for performance evaluations.Prepare correspondence with vendors and clients.Review civil site development deliverables and supplier/subcontractor documentation.Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals related to civil site development.Perform problem analysis and original design for civil engineering challenges.Prepare cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and staffing requirements for proposals and forecasts.Review and check work of subordinate engineers.Support and promote a work environment fostering openness, trust, teamwork, innovation, and satisfaction.Job Knowledge:Strong understanding of civil engineering design techniques, systems design, and calculations.Experience preparing and checking civil site development deliverables (concepts, drawings, calculations, quantities) for:Site layout and gradingPavement design (rigid/flexible)Stormwater and sanitary systemsUnderground utilitiesFencing and soil stabilization structuresKnowledge of Engineering Department Procedures and client design guides.Broad understanding of constructability, construction methods, and materials.Proficiency in engineering and design applications such as:Bentley MicroStation, InRoads, CulvertMaster, FlowMaster, CivilStorm, Intergraph Smart3D, or equivalent.Familiarity with computerized engineering planning and control methods.Understanding of roles of other departments and construction economics.Knowledge of industry and regulatory codes such as AASHTO, ACI, ASTM, Asphalt Institute, PCA, etc.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Knowledge of SmartPlant 3D is a plus.Basic Qualifications:Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.Minimum 6 years of relevant project experience.Professional Engineering (PE) license in Civil Engineering or related discipline.Practical experience in civil design engineering or equivalent allied engineering field demonstrating competency as a trained engineer.
