Junior CollegesActivities Related to Credit IntermediationOther Financial Investment ActivitiesOffice Administrative ServicesGrantmaking and Giving ServicesAssociate Director of Financial AidThe Associate Director of Financial Aid provides direction and leadership for the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Office primarily to the traditional student populations with special emphasis on compliance, efficient use of technology, communications and customer service.The incumbent will assist the Director of Financial Aid with the preparation of all external and internal reports, the yearly audits, and ensuring that the College remains compliant with all federal, state and institutional regulations and policies. The Associate Director supervises members of the Office of Financial Aid, focusing primarily on the traditional student staff. This position works closely with the Associate Director of Financial Champlain College Online area. All other duties as assigned.Responsibilities:• Administer federal, state and institutional financial aid programs including scholarships, grants, federal work study and loans. Direct the review, awarding and disbursement of financial aid to traditional students.• Collaborate with the Director of Financial Aid to develop, plan and implement departmental goals and objectives.• Serve as a liaison to undergraduate admissions teams in providing service to prospective new students. Represent the office and the College at internal and external events.• Create a service-oriented environment committed to supporting traditional students by providing high quality financial aid counseling and support. Collaborate with internal offices and external partners to deliver financial aid services to students.• Responsible for Satisfactory Academic Progress, Professional Judgement, and Verification.• Cross train staff of duties, to allow for maximum efficiency.• Evaluate and create services to students and staff through continuous evaluation and improvement of Colleague and Image Now processes and procedures.• Manage and supervise Financial Aid team members directly. This includes training, managing, assigning workloads, maintaining work schedules, and performance management around goal setting and appraisals.• Run reports daily, weekly and monthly for staff to work, such as SAP, Over awards, Mismatch, etc.• Responsible for the development and maintenance of the office's policy and procedure manual to ensure that the College remains compliant with all regulations and to ensure the office procedures are student-centric and provide the highest level of customer service.• Partner with the Director of Financial Aid to develop new strategies to help families better understand their aid offers and keep all marketing materials compliant with federal regulations.• Partner with the Director of Financial Aid to complete the filing of federal reports, including the FISAP and yearly audits.• Maintain personal knowledge of all federal, state and institutional regulations by following all changes, reading necessary publications and attending conferences and webinars.Job Requirements:• Bachelor's Degree Required.• Minimum of four years of financial aid experience with demonstrated increased responsibility and understanding of financial aid programs.• Familiarity with financial documents and a high competency of computer skills.• Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the financial aid operation.• Exceptional attention to detail and organization skills.• Knowledge of student financial aid compliance and reporting requirements• Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and faculty.• Excellent interpersonal skills with an expected high level of customer service skills.• Proficiency in technology and the systems used to determine a student's eligibility and originate a financial aid award.
