Open Rank Tenure Track Faculty in Sport Management

Overview:The Sport Management program at Methodist University, a small, student-centered liberal arts university seeks a dedicated and collaborative faculty member to support a growing major/minor with approximately 75 students. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, curriculum development, career advising, and service responsibilities that enhance student learning and strengthen partnerships with the sport industry.Primary Responsibilities:Teach a 4/4 course load in undergraduate Sport Management, with possible courses including:Introduction to Sport ManagementEvent ManagementFacility Management and OperationsSport AdministrationSport Marketing, Sales, and PromotionsSport GovernanceLegal Issues in SportsSport Finance and Economics CapstoneInternship/Practicum supervisionAdvise and mentor Sport Management majors and minors, providing academic guidance and career preparation support.Assist in developing and maintaining industry partnerships for internships, event experiences, and experiential learning opportunities.Participate in curriculum development to maintain alignment with industry trends and liberal arts philosophy.Engage in university service, including committee participation, student recruitment efforts, Sport Management Club activities, and campus events.Support program assessment, accreditation-related tasks, and overall program growth.Maintain an active agenda of professional development, scholarship, or relevant industry engagement consistent with institutional expectations.Additional Expectations:Support the mission of a liberal arts institution focused on holistic student development.Build positive relationships with students and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive academic environment.Participate in occasional evening/weekend events tied to recruitment, alumni engagement, or experiential learning opportunities.Assist in promoting the Sport Management program on campus and within the community.ApplicationReview of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
