Job Summary:The Oyster Shucker ensures the oyster bar is fully set up and prepared for service. The Oyster Shucker provides fast and accurate shucking of oysters which ensures quality products for the guests. The Oyster Shucker must follow recipe and plating specifications as established by the chef, resulting in consistent food presentation and the utmost guest satisfaction.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Shucks fresh oysters and grills to the specification of the menu itemEnsures oyster bar is properly stocked with supplies needed throughout the shiftKeeps ice bins stockedFollows established recipes, specifications, and plating requirementsEnsures tools and equipment are kept clean, sanitized, and properly storedProperly handling oyster tagsQualifications:Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skillsMust be able to speak, read and understand basic cooking directionsAbility to follow a production prep listAbility to work well with othersUnderstanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling proceduresProfessional communication skillsAbility to take directionAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to work calmly and effectively under pressureMust be self-motivated and organizedMust be able to work nights, weekends, and some holidaysTakes pride in and responsibility for the job by maintaining efficiency and quality of work and holding oneself accountable for the function of the job.Physical Demands:Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of timeAbility to move and transport food carts, equipment, and suppliesBe able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 poundsCapable of working in extremely hot or cold environmentsContinual use of dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of fine motor skillsClose vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusMay be exposed to disagreeable odors, chemicals, and noise, latex plastics, and other materials used for protective equipment
