Sr. Cost Accountant (Hybrid - Kennesaw, GA)

Additionally, it has sales and distribution offices in various countries throughout Europe, Asia, and South America.Accurately and timely preparation of cost models and/or standard costing for domestic manufactured products and processed tissues. Ensure accuracy of inventory and deferred preservation costs (tissues) on the balance sheet and cost of products and preservation services on the income statement. Includes preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing descriptive or supporting schedules, and working on special projects as necessary.ResponsibilitiesPrepare the domestic models and/or standard costing that calculate the cost of products and processed tissues, including:Prepare cost models on a monthly basisUpdate cost models periodically to ensure costing accuracyRoutinely review inputs into costing modelsAnalyses support, investigation, and/or preparation including:Costs, inventory, and gross marginsNew product development and costing information for ROI calculationsObsolescence and scrap trendingBudgeting, including:Prepare/support the cost of products and preservation services budgetingSupport budget to actual analyses, including discussing how and why results differed from expectationsAssist in annual review and update of internal controls over the cost accounting processes and quarterly review procedures for SEC filingsPrepare or support routine cost accounting and inventory/deferred preservation cost functions, including:Physical and cycle counts of inventory and tissues to support balance sheet accountsRecording of routine monthly accruals for procurement costs, freight, etc.Prepare account reconciliations in BlackLine systemTimely and accurate preparation of cost models for actual and budgetAnalysis of budget to actual variances with reconciliation detailsTimely and accurate information for costing, gross margin, and inventory analysesParticipate in other analysis and projects as necessaryQualifications3 years public accounting experience (Big 4 experience preferred), 3 years costing experience, or 5 years industry accounting experience requiredBachelor's Degree in Accounting or FinanceStrong Written and Verbal Communication SkillsIntermediate to Advanced skills in full Microsoft Office suite, especially ExcelExperience with large accounting systems, SAP experience a plusClear understanding of US GAAP and ability to apply this knowledgeA high level of initiative and driveSuperior attention to detail and ability to maintain to-do lists and stick to tight deadlinesGreat critical thinker with a natural curiosity to analyze and improve business results and processesExperience with Workday Adaptive and Qlik is a plusMAcc, MBA, and/or CPA is a plusAble to work overtime for quarterly closings or as neededEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
