Responsible for the supervision of center security, fire protection, tort claims, and significant incidents in compliance with government and management directives. Performs and oversees the administrative functions of the security department.Essential FunctionsPerform administrative and security activities of the department; serve as liaison between center and immediate community in security, law enforcement and fire agency mattersInterview, hire, train, discipline and terminate security staff subject to required approvalProvide staff training, evaluate staff performance and recommend personnel changesReview incident reports for completeness, conciseness, proper spelling, and grammar, prior to distributionAssist with developing new and revised policies and procedures safety and securitySupervise the investigation of student and staff accidents; ensure all paperwork is completedProvide fire protection, conduct frequent fire drills and inspections of the facilityConduct orientation and in service training programs for staff and students to ensure that security policies are followed; assist manager, safety & security with safety training and programsConduct periodic security audits to identify deficiencies and recommend changesProvide records and reports of departmental activities upon request by management, insurance underwriters, DOL and other government agenciesCoordinate with other center staff concerning safety and security matters and conduct security related investigationsCoordinate searches of students’ rooms and belongings to ensure center health and safetyProvide for the safety and security of students on center grounds through the direction and monitoring of the mobile advisor staffInspect all center areas for safety of facilities and health violations to identify potential hazards; initiate corrective actionEnsure fire extinguishers are available in required locations and in working condition at all timesAssist in developing and implementing the occupational safety and health planProvide fire and safety procedures and literature to staff and students; develop and implement safety training programs for staff and students on the center safety and health plan; conduct training for staff on OSHA standardsMaintain logs and reports of all employee and student injury/accident reports; investigate serious accidents and make recommendations for preventionCoordinate with other center staff concerning safety programsEnsure monthly fire drills are conducted in all areasPromote safety campaigns on center to reduce accidentsEnsure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn in the trades to comply with OSHA standards. Provide training in proper usageComplete accident investigation reports which include a detailed narrative on the incident, injuries, casual factors, and recommendations for corrective actionFacilitate monthly safety committee meetings. Review accidents since last meeting and identify corrective actionsProvide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customersParticipate in student employability programs and activitiesSupport, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance PolicyPromote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventionsMaintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.Education & ExperienceAssociate's degree and two years related experience working with youth, one year experience which should be in a supervisory capacityDirectly related youth program experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements on a year by year basisExcellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency requiredValid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
