RK&K is seeking Designer for our Baltimore, MD office to support Utility design, relocations, and coordination of projects utilizing AutoCAD and/or MicroStation platforms as design tools. A Designer will provide technical support to the engineering team, utilizing a combination of industry experience and academic knowledge. They will execute tasks essential to the completion of assignments, demonstrating a solid understanding of technical principles and practice.Essential FunctionsDevelop technically accurate and deliverable computer-generated drawings based on direction and engineering sketches; preparation of contract drawings and color renderings; maintain adherence to company and client CADD standards and proceduresSupport project research, agency requirements, drawing preparation, organizing CADD files, drafts, design plans, and detailsUse computer-aided drafting software to develop layouts, drawings, and designs that meet engineering specificationsSupports engineers and designers of all disciplines through a variety of tasks including proposal drawings, completing redlines, and sketchesAbility to read and understand construction drawingsReview engineering drawings, analyze design and retrieve information to complete drawing, layout, or designSupport surveying data processing and assist in the development of plats and designs using CADD technologyComplete field reconnaissance for different projectsInteract with customers effectively to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the engineering/design projectRequired Skills And ExperienceHigh School Diploma or EquivalentAbility to read and interpret basic technical documents and apply drafting/CADD techniques to project tasks0-2 years of relevant experiencePossesses good verbal and written communication skillsAbility to effectively present information to individuals and groupsPreferred Skills And ExperienceContinuing education or college level trainingExperience in Utility Engineering or Construction industry2+ years of proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation CADD platformsBasic understanding of geometry/trigonometryDetail oriented and able to follow QA/QC proceduresPipeline construction drawing experienceUnderstanding of GIS Mapping software (ESRI, ArcGIS, GE Smallworld)Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Experience using collaborative virtual applications (Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom)Other DutiesThis job description indicates the general nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other essential functions (as covered under ADA).
