Project Designer I

RK&K is seeking a self-motivated, experienced engineering technician/designer to lead a variety of natural gas projects that may include design, preparation of construction documents, and construction field modification. This position affords you the opportunity to fully engage in solving complex problems, provide technical evaluation, and evaluate the costs and benefits of alternative solutions. Some local travel required.Essential FunctionsDevelop technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawingsAssist in developing specifications, reviews submittals, coordinate project submissions, and communicate with clientsCoordinate the preparation of multi-discipline drawing sets as required for assigned projects, including coordination with technical, administrative, and other design staffPromote, utilize, and support quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors & omissionsWork with teams and project personnel in providing technical research and regulatory compliance requirements for assigned projectsAssist in the bid process Required Skills And Experience4+ years of general utilities or technical engineering experience, preferably in the natural gas and pipeline industryAssociates level education in design related curriculumAbility to coordinate simultaneous tasksProficiency in communicating technical informationEffective verbal and written communication skillsProficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation (plans, profiles, Civil3D)Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)Preferred Skills And Experience7 years of general utilities or technical engineering experienceNatural gas distribution and transmission designHorizontal Directional Drill design Pipeline facility (inline inspection, M&R, renewable natural gas) design Permit plan preparation (traffic control, erosion & sediment control)Travel RequirementsOccasional travel as assigned either locally or extended distances; can be one or more nights away from home.Other DutiesThis job description indicates the general nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other essential functions (as covered under ADA).
