Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Position Overview Our client, an innovative aerospace propulsion manufacturer, is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support the development and scaling of advanced turbine engine production operations. This is a highly visible, hands-on engineering role responsible for driving manufacturing process improvements, supporting production operations, improving assembly flow, and collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, and test teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in manufacturing engineering within a high-volume or complex mechanical assembly environment, with the ability to lead process optimization initiatives, support production execution, and improve manufacturability across the product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Engineering & Production Support Support and optimize manufacturing operations for complex mechanical and electromechanical assemblies. Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, assembly methods, and production workflows. Create and maintain detailed work instructions, process documentation, and standardized manufacturing procedures. Drive improvements in production efficiency, labor utilization, throughput, and product quality. Establish and monitor key production metrics including takt time, cycle time, yield, and throughput. Process Improvement & Lean Manufacturing Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste, improve quality, and increase operational efficiency. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to manufacturing and production issues. Utilize tools such as value stream mapping, visual management, PFMEA, and process controls to improve manufacturing performance. Identify opportunities for automation, tooling enhancements, fixture design, and process optimization. Hands-On Manufacturing Ownership Design, develop, and validate manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and production support equipment. Provide direct support on the manufacturing floor during assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and production ramp activities. Assist with equipment maintenance coordination and production readiness initiatives. Support new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing scale-up activities. Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate closely with Design Engineering teams to improve manufacturability and support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives. Partner with Quality teams on control plans, inspection processes, and compliance requirements. Support training and technical development of manufacturing technicians and production personnel. Work with Supply Chain and Operations teams to resolve manufacturing constraints and improve production flow. Safety & Compliance Support compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and internal manufacturing quality standards. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout manufacturing operations. Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable industry and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline. 10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience within complex manufacturing or production environments. Strong hands-on manufacturing process engineering experience supporting production operations and hardware assembly. Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience developing manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, and production standards. Familiarity with ERP, MES, and PLM systems. Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills. U.S. Citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting aerospace, turbine engine, propulsion, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments. Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems. Familiarity with gas turbine engines, rotating equipment, or precision mechanical assemblies. Experience with PTC Creo and Windchill PLM systems. Exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies and production scale-up initiatives.
