Starbucks Manager

The Starbucks Manager ensures success by leading a team to create and maintain the Starbucks experience for our guests and team members. He/She is required to regularly and customarily exercise discretion in managing the overall operation of the location. In particular, a majority of time is spent supervising and directing the workforce, making staffing decisions (i.e., hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, discharging, staffing and scheduling), ensuring guest satisfaction and product quality, managing the store's financial performance, and managing safety and security within the store. He/She is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Starbucks and The United Family guiding principles.Key ResponsibilitiesWhen a guest enters my area or department, my first and most important responsibility becomes to acknowledge, greet, and engage that guestDemonstrate a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events and manage smooth transitions thereafter to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the store teamDrive the implementation of company programs by developing action plans and directly motivating and instructing the store team to implement them to meet operational and organizational objectivesPlan, identify, communicate, and delegate appropriate responsibilities and practices to team members to ensure smooth flow of operationsConstantly review location environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement to provide coaching and direction to the store team to achieve operational goalsUtilize existing tools to identify and prioritize communications and regularly use discretion to filter communications to the store team; communicate clearly, concisely and accurately in order to ensure effective store operationsUtilize and demonstrate effective management principles and practices to create and maintain a successful store team resulting in an environment where guests are valued and respectedEnsure team members and partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirementsPerform other duties as requested or required by managementKey RequirementsMust be 18 years of age or olderHigh School Diploma or equivalentMinimum of 1 year of management/supervisor experienceAbility to manage store operations independentlyAbility to manage resources to ensure that established service levels are achieved at all timesMust be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for long periods of time (up to 4 hours).Perform all other physical aspects of the job including bending, squatting, lifting, climbing, and walkingMust be able to work in a fast, efficient and controlled mannerMust maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certificationStrong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor othersStrong organizational and planning skillsAbility to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writingAbility to function as a team member and get along with othersThis job description is intended to provide a high-level of general requirements for this position.
