Confidential Secretary to District Superintendent of Schools

The North Rockland Central School District is seeking candidates for the position of Confidential Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. This is a full time 12-month position which includes a highly competitive salary range ($75,000 - $100,000 based on experience) and comprehensive benefits package. This position operates under the general supervision of the Superintendent, and involves working within specific District policies and objectives to be a trusted partner in ensuring the smooth administrative functioning of the Superintendent's office.Typical Work ActivitiesMaintain the Superintendent's calendar, schedules appointments and meetings, and coordinates logistics with internal and external stakeholdersManage, process, and protect highly sensitive and confidential communications for the Superintendent's officeMake high-level decisions regarding the routing and prioritization of a large volume of correspondence from local, state, and federal agenciesDraft, format, and finalize official correspondence and documentation for the Superintendent's signatureServe as the initial point of contact for the Superintendent's Office, thoughtfully analyzing and responding to inquiries from the community, district personnel, and neighboring school districtsReceive, document, and tactfully resolve constituency complaints, ensuring community concerns are handled with professionalismMaintain secure, comprehensive, and organized files pertaining to personnel, budgets, and Board of Education proposalsAssist in the compilation and preparation of comprehensive reports, statistical data, and other assignments as directed by the SuperintendentAttend various staff and/or committee meetings to accurately record and distribute informationSupport the Superintendent in the planning and execution of District events.Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal CharacteristicsProven expertise in modern office management practices, with a working knowledge of administrative principles and supervisory techniquesStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear correspondence and reports from general instructionsStrong decision-making skills with the ability to exercise strong independent judgment in a fast-paced, high-stakes environmentA collaborative mindset with the proven ability to build successful relationships and communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including staff, parents, students, Board members, elected officials, and community partnersHigh level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentialityHighly organized and meticulous, with the ability to successfully execute complex oral and written directivesStrong understanding of current computer technology, including proficiency in office software, including Google Workplace and Microsoft OfficeRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or possession of equivalency diplomaTwo (2) or more years of relevant experience in a school district, government, public agency or professional office settingPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degreeFive (5) or more years of relevant experience in a school district, government, public agency or professional office setting
