Tablet Coating Supervisor

Position: Tableting SupervisorType: Contract-to-Hire Shift: 1st Shift | Monday – Friday | 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM Location: Garland, TX 75238 Department: Tableting Production Reports To: Senior Production Manager Classification: Non-ExemptPosition OverviewThe Tableting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily tablet press and coating operations to ensure production runs safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). This role supervises team members, monitors production performance, and ensures all processes follow approved operating procedures while maintaining quality and safety standards.This position is considered safety-sensitive as it involves operating and monitoring production equipment and machinery that may impact employee and workplace safety.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure all operations follow Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Oversee tablet press and coating operations, ensuring safety, quality, and production efficiency.Supervise team members by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring production goals are met.Ensure employee training is current and coordinate cross-training when needed.Assist with tableting and coating equipment setup and make operational adjustments as necessary during production.Monitor equipment performance and notify Maintenance for preventative or immediate repair needs.Communicate production issues, scheduling changes, or operational needs to the Production Manager.Complete and review Batch Production Records to ensure accuracy and compliance.Monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and prepare related reports and documentation.Conduct new hire orientation and on-the-job training, including safety procedures and approved operating practices.Perform routine production checks to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.Investigate non-conformances, deviations, and production issues, working with QA and the Lab to resolve product concerns.Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.Maintain accurate production and departmental reporting.Follow up on any changes or issues affecting the production schedule.Perform additional duties as assigned.Additional ResponsibilitiesAssist with tableting and coating setup, including gathering materials from storage areas.Support other tableting and coating production tasks as needed.Required Skills & QualificationsStrong verbal and written English communication skillsStrong math and computer skillsAbility to prioritize tasks and manage workflowStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods (up to 4 hours at a time)Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, squat, twist, and reach frequentlyLift up to 50 lbsAbility to operate a pallet jackMust be able to wear required PPE including gloves, lab coat, hair net, face mask, ear protection, and respiratorEducation & ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED preferredPrevious manufacturing experience required3–6 months of Tablet Press Operator experience with knowledge of the coating process preferred
