The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center offers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services.FLSA StatusNon-ExemptJob Role SummaryThe Support Specialist provides skills training and development to clients as required by medical necessity outlined in the person-centered treatment plan. This position also provides crisis management and emergency interventions including but not limited to CPR and CPI interventions, as well as provides quality case management as required by medical necessity and directed by the treatment team.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesProactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health's values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and ExcellenceEmbraces, understands, and operates under the Recovery Model, including AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and the spirit of motivational interviewingProvides skills training and development to clients in group and individual settings as guided by medical necessity outlined in the person-centered treatment planProvides crisis management and emergency interventions including but not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation and approved area-specific crisis intervention techniquesReports to treatment team in staffing including but not limited to successes and challenges, assessment of client progress, barriers to success, any level of care changes, etc.Meets the agency's standard of providing the appropriate service at the right time, right place, and right frequency as determined by the client's level of needMeets the agency's standard of timely completion of all documentation including interpreting and applying service and billing procedures according to client needs as well as completing billing according to guidelines for timeliness and accuracyEstablishes and maintains a safe environment at all times through on-going assessment of service environment and intervenes as indicated in person-centered treatment plan as well as by nursing or physician orderMeets agency requirements for continuing educationMay provide transportation in company provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle as directed by treatment team and guided by medical necessity; maintains a copy of Eskenazi Health's vehicle-related accident reporting procedures in vehicleJob Requirements* High School Diploma or GED plus two years of experience in behavioral health; or* Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in human services may substitute for experience* Valid Indiana driver's license that meets Eskenazi Health's driving policy requirementsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities* KnowledgeoBasic knowledge of behavioral healthoBasic knowledge of substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disordersoBasic knowledge of medical terminologyoAdvanced knowledge of client rights and responsibilities* SkillsoBasic computer skillsoCrisis intervention skillsoStrong interpersonal skills* AbilitiesoAbility to teach a skill based upon person-centered learning needs and learning stylesoAbility to be both clear and concise in written and verbal communicationsoAbility to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary teamoAbility to think critically and problem-solve efficientlyoAbility to provide hands-on client careoAbility to perform safety interventions including physical safety interventionsoAbility to lift a minimum of 50 lbsoMust meet all population-specific competencies for role and service areaSandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center's primary mission is to serve individuals with serious mental illness and chronic addiction as well as seriously emotionally disturbed children and their families.
