Heavy Equipment Field Service Mechanic

Under the direction of the Shop Foreman, Mechanicsare responsible forthe repair and maintenance of construction equipment in a safe and efficient manner.Determinesmachine or vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests;identifyingworn and damaged parts.Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.Corrects deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.Verifies proper performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.Complies withfederal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repair logs.Keeps shop equipmentoperatingby following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns;maintainingsupplies; performing preventive maintenance; initiating repairsContainscosts by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.Updates job knowledge byparticipatingin educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.Use mobile service truck to perform service calls on equipment in the field.Performs other related duties asrequiredand assigned.The Location: This position works as part of the staff in ourGladstone,MImaintenance & repair facilityand covers northern Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and northern Lower Michigan.Requirements:A valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
