Press Assistant (Nights)

Position Summary: As a Press Assistant, you will assist the Press Operator in setting up and running of an 8 or 10 color Flexographic Printing press.Essential FunctionsAssist setting up 8 or 10 color Flexographic Printing press.  Load and unload rolls on machine, must be able to lift 75 lbs.  Load and unload print sleeves and anilox. Check ink viscosity and clean print station and ink pumps.  Assemble and adjust doctor blade chamber.  Able to take direction and follow Press Operator needs.  Responsible to maintain a high level of cleanliness to keep machine operable.  Ability to maintain housekeeping for the press and workstation.   Responsible for condition of machine and work area.   Clean plates & anilox. Work safely at all times.   CompetenciesCommunication. Basic Standup Pallet Jack Operations.  Performing General Physical Activities. Technical Capacity Record-keeping skills. Quality Control Analysis. Troubleshooting. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration and cleaning solvents. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.  It has a moderate to high demand for tight deadlines. This position will experience moderate interruption in workflow, starting and stopping for product changeovers.Physical Demands: The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is required to see color variance between products, perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, stand for extended periods of time and walk extended distances. Lift 75 pounds to shoulder height. Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, fingers, with the ability to feel and reach with hands and arms.  Continuous (6 to 10 hours per day) bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting and grasping.   Continuous (6 to 10 hours per day) standing and walking.    Continuous (6 or more hours per day) talking, teaching, and repetitive motion, hand/wrist movement.   Good eyesight, normal hearing.   Ability to move and lift objects, frequently 75 lbs.   Frequent (1 to 2 hours) working at a computer terminal.  Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days, nights and hours may vary depending on assigned shift and production requirements. This position may require significant work hours beyond the normal workday based on the demands of the business cycle, customer volume of business.Travel: Travel is not required for this position.Required Education and Experience: Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.   Ability to read and write English.   Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.   Knowledge of equipment operation and/or maintenance.   Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.    Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers.   Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.   Ability to perform simple arithmetic.   Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.   High School diploma or GED and at least 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.   Capable of multi-tasking the operation of production.
