Fire Protection Engineer II
OVERVIEWMerrick is seeking an experienced mid-level Fire Protection Engineer with three to six (3-6) years of experience to join our rapidly growing High Performance Facilities team. With a focus on DoD federal government, Military, and Intelligence Community Facilities this person can be in any of our Merrick offices, or hybrid. A hybrid (work from home and office) schedule is encouraged.Typical annual pay range for this position is $88,600-$115,000. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.WHAT YOU'LL DOWorking tandemly with other Mid-Level and Senior Fire Protection Engineers, the candidate can look forward to the following responsibilities:Deliver Fire Protection Engineering subject matter expertise to our unique DoD federal government, Military, and Intelligence Community partners to include:Military Flight Simulators and Training BuildingsIntelligence Community Data Centers and Support BuildingsSatellite Reconnaissance Launch and Support BuildingsSecure (SCIF) Compartmented Buildings and FacilitiesIndependently create and evaluate design analyses, conceptual designs, program requirements, calculations, equipment selection and layout, and system selection and layout for the following:Fire Suppression Systems (wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action systems)Fire Alarm and Mass Notification SystemsClean Agent SystemsSmoke Management SystemsLife Safety Code and Building Code AnalysisCollaborate in a design team environment, working together with engineers, designers, and project managersTake ownership of small projects or portions of larger projectsModerate level interface with mission partners, clients, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to prepare, validate, and deliver key design effortsGrow and expand your career by receiving mentorship from a variety of Mid-Level and Senior ProfessionalsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering (ABET accredited)Engineer-in-training (EIT) or NICET Level 3 and above; PE License preferredWillingness to learn; ability to work semi-independently as well as on teams; self-motivatedMinimum three (3) years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering (internship experience counts)DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in Fire Protection Engineering for DoD federal government, Intelligence Community and Military projectsModerate-to-advanced knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), International Building Codes, Life Safety Codes, and NFPA Codes and StandardsHave the willingness and ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret ClearanceProficiency with MS Office, Revit, AutoCAD, BluebeamClient projects for this position require US CitizenshipAbility to obtain PE within 1 to 2 years is a plusDomestic and international travel opportunities availablePERKSEmployee Owned - all eligible U.S. employees have an Employee Stock Ownership Account.Robust Employee Referral Program.Annual performance and compensation reviews.Professional Training and Development.Employee Recognition Awards.Peer Mentor ProgramAnd Much More!PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSRequires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONApply online only.
