The company operates with a mission-driven culture focused on innovation, reliability, and empowering clients to respond effectively when every second matters.ROLE SUMMARY The Assistant Controller plays a key leadership role within the accounting function, overseeing daily operations across accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue accounting, and general ledger activities. This position manages and develops a team of accounting professionals while maintaining ownership of complex revenue processes, sales commission administration, and interest expense accounting. The role supports monthly close activities, annual audit preparation, and cross-functional collaboration with finance, sales, and operational leaders. This individual will work closely with the Controller to strengthen accounting processes, ensure GAAP compliance, and support organizational growth.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Supervise, develop, and coach accounting staff across AR, AP, and GL functions• Manage daily accounting operations including billing, revenue accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger activities• Ensure compliance with ASC 606 for SaaS and software licensing arrangements and ASC 350- 40 for software and cloud computing costs• Review customer contracts and sales orders to ensure accurate revenue treatment• Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for deferred revenue, unbilled revenue, and revenue-related accruals• Calculate and reconcile interest expense accruals and loan-related journal entries• Administer sales commission plans including plan setup, Salesforce data review, payout calculations, and inquiry resolution• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and support annual audit activities• Lead monthly financial close processes and ensure timely, accurate completion of reconciliations and reporting• Assist the Controller with purchase accounting, GAAP compliance projects, and process improvement initiatives• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support operational alignmentKEY REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance• Seven-plus years of progressive accounting experience with at least three years in a SaaS or software environment• Demonstrated experience applying ASC 606 to SaaS or software licensing arrangements• Proven experience managing and developing a team of two to three accountants• ERP experience required with strong preference for NetSuite• Advanced Excel skills including modeling and complex formulas• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Excellent attention to detail, judgment, and problem-solving abilities• Ability to work cross-functionally and support scalable accounting processesPREFERRED SKILLS • CPA certification• Public accounting experience• Experience with FloQast or similar close management tools• Experience administering sales commission platforms such as Everstage, CaptivateIQ, or Spiff• Project-oriented experience supporting process improvements or system enhancementsCALL TO ACTION Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply with their resume and contact information for immediate consideration.
