Primary PurposeProvide school-based occupational therapy services to eligible students in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The Occupational Therapist supports students in accessing and participating in their educational program by addressing fine motor, sensory, self-care, and classroom participation needs aligned to IEP goals.QualificationsEducation / CertificationMaster's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited programCurrent Texas OT license issued by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy ExaminersNBCOT certification (current)Eligible for employment in a Texas public school district (background clearance)PreferredSchool-based OT experienceKnowledge of IDEA, ARD/IEP process, and special education complianceExperience with assistive technology and sensory integration strategiesKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesUnderstanding of educationally relevant therapy vs. medical therapyStrong collaboration skills with teachers, administrators, parents, and special education teamsAbility to conduct evaluations and write compliant OT reportsClassroom-based intervention and consultation skillsEffective oral and written communicationStrong documentation and time management skillsMajor Responsibilities and DutiesConduct occupational therapy evaluations and re-evaluations in compliance with IDEA and district proceduresParticipate in ARD/IEP meetings to develop measurable goals and service plansPrepare and maintain required documentation, progress reports, and compliance timelinesProvide direct therapy services to students as outlined in IEPsConsult with teachers and staff to implement classroom strategies and accommodationsTrain staff and parents on appropriate use of adaptive equipment and interventionsCollaborate with LSSPs, Speech Pathologists, Diagnosticians, and TeachersMaintain service logs and documentation for PEIMS/TEA audit complianceEnsure confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and district policyWork Environment / Physical DemandsWork may involve travel between campusesAbility to lift, push, or pull therapy equipment and assistive devicesFrequent standing, walking, and positioning of students
