Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Center Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years LDRP experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: Experience with cervical exams, amnio infusions, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV starts/management, Pitocin, baby catching/receiving, APGAR, and basic breastfeeding education Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for our Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum unit. This unit features 12 LDRP beds along with 2 triage rooms and 2 operating rooms. There is a 10-bed Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The average census is 60-80 births per month. Nurses will provide care for patients starting from 32 weeks of gestation. The majority of patients are considered lower risk. Common diagnoses include hypertension, medication management for substance abuse, and management of elevated BMI and diabetes. After delivery, patients will remain in the same room for continued nursing care. Experience with postpartum care and women's surgeries is preferred. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:1 during labor, 1:2 for active labor, and 1:3 for couplets. Support staff includes two technicians, a Health Unit Coordinator, and phlebotomists. Anesthesia is always on call for labor and delivery. Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and Obstetricians are available 24/7. Respiratory Therapy is also available 24/7. A lactation consultant meets with every patient before discharge during the day. Electronic medical records are managed using EPIC. The unit is equipped with Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing. Staff will have a scheduling rotation every fourth weekend and holiday expectations every other holiday. Requests for time off are acceptable with advance notice.
