JOB SUMMARYPerforms highly advanced supervisory maintenance and construction work. Work involvesoverseeing maintenance and construction staff involved in the installation, care, and repair of statefacilities and equipment; and supervising the work of inmates. Works under minimal supervision withextensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSA. Oversees, supervises, inspects, schedules, assigns, prioritizes, and participates in high voltage,electrical, and general maintenance and construction work; coordinates work assignments withother supervisors to ensure efficient use of resources; and provides technical expertise.B. Oversees the preparation of estimates for work hours, materials, and resources required forprojects; approves and initiates requisitions for materials and supplies; and prepares reportsand maintains records of repairs.C. Trains and supervises inmate maintenance and construction workers; and ensures compliancewith applicable safety rules, regulations, and standards.D. Assists in maintaining security of assigned inmates.* Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA. Education, Experience, and Training1. Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.2. Six years full-time, wage-earning electrical, high voltage (600 volts or higher) experience.3. Experience in the supervision of inmates preferred.Knowledge and Skills1. Knowledge of construction and maintenance procedures, methods, and standardsregarding electrical technology.2. Knowledge of primary and secondary electrical systems and electrical interface andapplications.3. Knowledge of codes and safety requirements involving construction and maintenanceelectrical activities.4. Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures,rules, and regulations preferred.5. Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.6. Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and thepublic.7. Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.8. Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports.9. Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.10. Skill to plan work in order to meet established guidelines.11. Skill to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, plans, and specifications.12. Skill to construct, install, replace, and repair electrical systems.13.
