Director Of Translational Cancer Care Delivery Hematology And Oncology The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Associate Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), to serve as Director of Translational Cancer Care Delivery. This leadership role is designed for an individual with expertise in clinical oncology and clinical data science who will bridge innovation in data-driven research with real-world cancer care delivery. The Director will lead the development and implementation of advanced clinical data ecosystems derived from electronic health records (EHRs), with the goal of improving patient care and outcomes, accelerating translational research, and enhancing clinical trial access. This role emphasizes scalable, AI-enabled approaches to extracting and operationalizing clinical and molecular data across institutional and community care settings. The position will combine leadership, research, mentorship, and clinical care. Key responsibilities include providing strategic leadership in the development and implementation of integrated clinical data ecosystems that leverage structured and unstructured electronic health record data to advance translational research and cancer care delivery. The Director will lead the design, deployment, and evaluation of AI-enabled tools to derive clinically meaningful phenotypes, identify disease progression and treatment response, and support patient identification for clinical trials, biomarker-driven therapies, and supportive care interventions. Partnering with institutional and community sites to expand access to harmonized clinical data, enabling population analytics, trial feasibility assessments, and improved care delivery across a broader network. Establishing and leading an independent, externally funded research program in clinical data science focused on integrating clinical and molecular datasets to generate real-world evidence and support causal inference. Contributing to high-quality clinical care (20–30% effort) within a defined oncology specialty, including participation in clinical trials. Providing mentorship and career development for trainees, particularly those focused on Hutchinson Institute for Cancer Outcomes Research (HICOR). Fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across clinical, research, and informatics teams to enhance the cancer center's regional and national impact. The position will be primarily appointed in the Clinical Research Division (CRD) at Fred Hutch and based at the Hutchinson Institute for Cancer Outcomes Research (HICOR), a multidisciplinary research group focused on cancer outcomes research. The position also includes a joint appointment in the UW Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Medicine. The position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the CRD at Fred Hutch and Hematology and Oncology Division Head at UW with a dotted line to the Director of HICOR. Appointment at Fred Hutch and UW would be at the rank of Associate Professor WOT on the Physician Scientist pathway. Opportunities exist for joint and/or affiliate appointment in the Fred Hutch Divisions of Public Health Sciences, Translational Science and Therapeutics, Human Biology, Basic Sciences, or Vaccine and Infectious Disease, depending on mutual interests.
