You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered nutrition care that truly makes a difference.Responsibilities:You’ll provide care to diverse patient populations using Medical Nutrition Therapy, including assessments, goal setting, and individualized care plansYou’ll serve as the nutrition expert for assigned units or committees, helping drive improvements in nutrition care processesYou’ll collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the broader care team to ensure the best outcomes for your patientsAs needed, you’ll ensure documentation meets outpatient billing and regulatory requirementsYou’ll identify malnutrition and develop nutrition diagnoses using Nutrition Focused Physical Assessments and established criteriaYou’ll educate and counsel patients and families, tailoring your approach to their unique needs and understandingWhen needed, you’ll create written materials, presentations, and communications for a variety of audiencesYou’ll provide timely interventions based on each patient’s nutrition risk and plan of careYou’ll participate in quality improvement efforts and help support evidence-based practices across the departmentYou’ll carry out order writing in alignment with Dietitian Delegation Order protocolsFor individuals who obtained their Registered Dietitian (RD) certification prior to January 1, 2026, a bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics is required. For individuals who obtained their Registered Dietitian (RD) certification on or after January 1, 2026, a master's degree in a Nutrition or Dietetics is required. Strong nutrition education/counseling and mentoring skills . Critical thinking skills for sound decision making. Prior experience with UPMC Somerset strongly preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) within 9 months of hire. Registered Dietitian (RD) within 6 months of hire.
