To connect families in crisis with community resources. To represent the District's policies to the community To provide prevention programs to the community. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Work in collaboration with Special Education and Student Support Services to provide appropriate services for disruptive/harmful behaviors in schools. Work with assigned schools to identify potentially disruptive/harmful students through the CISD referral process. Provide the following counseling services on the assigned campuses: Individual counseling; Small group; counseling; Classroom presentations; Parent groups and presentations; Family consultations; Staff training and consultations Work closely with school administrators, school counselors, and teachers in developing strategies to address issues surrounding unhealthy behaviors. Work closely with the Coordinator of Guidance and Counseling in order to meet the needs of all students. Maintain a confidential rapport with students and their families regarding personal information; however, communicating goals and objectives pertaining to the student's status to appropriate school staff, law enforcement and social agencies. Provide counseling services alone or with school counselors during and/or after school hours at a time, place, and in a manner agreed upon by the school administrators and counselors. Act as a liaison between the school district and agencies that focus on individual issues affected by substance abuse and family issues. Keep accurate travel records. Act as a liaison between the school district, public mental health agencies, law enforcement agencies, family members, students, and juvenile justice officials that focus on individual issues affected by disruptive/harmful behaviors. Act as a resource person in the event of a crisis in the District. Be available, at any time, to respond to district crises Assist the District and campuses with the implementation of the safe schools plan for students and staff. Adhere to professional ethics and standards of a professional counselor and a positive representative of Conroe Independent School District. Other duties as assigned EXPERIENCE Minimum of five years of experience with school-aged population Knowledgeable about community resources and social agencies Knowledgeable about laws dealing with children and adolescents Counseling with children and families QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification: Master's Degree in counseling, Social Work, or School Administration Teaching and Professional School Counselor Certification Knowledgeable of schools and school culture CONTACT INFORMATION Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress.
