Candidates must be eligible, and willing to travel for project installs across Canada and the US.About The RoleAs a Machine Builder, you will play a hands-on role in integrating equipment and building robotic cells from the ground up, particularly within automotive automation environments. We're looking for individuals with experience acting as a technical lead on projects and a desire to continue developing their leadership abilities within our team.In this role, you will build, assemble, plumb, erect, test, disassemble, and install automated machinery and fixtures. You will work from engineered drawings and schematics, identifying and documenting any errors, adjustments, or improvements needed to ensure the system is functional, efficient, ergonomic, safe, and visually well-constructed.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze drawings and coordinate with engineering to make changes where improvements can be made to reduce rework and enable an efficient build, increase accuracy, enhance functionality, and make post-installation maintenance easierObtain and organize materials required to construct automated machineryFabricate parts operating various fabrication equipment including plasma cutter, manual lathe, manual mill, pedestal grinders, MIG Welder, TIG Welder, band saws, hand grinders, drill presses, etcConduct tests of parts to identify defects and ensure parts meet required specificationsAssemble Machines and tooling using approved design packages, build kits, and tooling kitsGenerate solutions to machine build problems and implementComplete modifications to existing equipment due to engineering changesAttend area whiteboard meetings for planning area activitiesAttend project white board meetings to present if directed, acknowledging the progress and plan, understanding the status of other disciplines, understand upcoming key milestones and project riskParticipate in design reviews to analyze mechanical designs and identify areas of improvement to increase accuracy and efficiencyImplement BOS Standards, identify potential areas of improvement and present them to the Build Team SupervisorCreate a layout plan for plumbing while considering efficiency, functionality, future maintenance and appearanceComplete the mounting and plumbing of the system including piping assembly, installing water and hydraulic supply and creating pneumatic platesThis description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. You're skilled at organizing components, interpreting blueprints and schematics, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You communicate clearly, work well both independently and within a team, and bring strong critical thinking, time management, and prioritization skills. You're comfortable operating hand and power tools, including grinders, plasma cutters, and torches, and you're able to travel for machine installations when required.
