Position SummaryThe Assistant Vice President (AVP), Marketing & Communications is a senior leader responsible for building, leading, and executing the company’s enterprise-wide marketing, brand, and communications strategy. This role is critical to support business growth, including new product launches, expansion into new markets, and the creation of new affiliated companies.Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer or President, the AVP serves as the single point of accountability for the Marketing & Communications function, overseeing both strategy and execution. This role partners closely with the Executive Leadership Team to align marketing initiatives with corporate objectives, drive revenue growth, and strengthen market positioning across multiple entities.Organizational StructureReports to: Chief Executive OfficerLeads: Marketing & Communications function (all team members, vendors, and agencies)Collaborates with: Product, Underwriting, Actuarial, Sales, Legal, HR, Finance, and Executive LeadershipEssential Duties and Responsibilities1. Enterprise Marketing Strategy & LeadershipDevelop and execute a comprehensive enterprise marketing strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives.Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on market opportunities, competitive positioning, and expansion strategy.Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure marketing effectiveness, ROI, and contribution to business outcomes.2. Multi-Company Brand Architecture & GovernanceDesign and lead the brand architecture across multiple companies and business entities.Define brand hierarchy, naming conventions, and positioning strategies for all products and entities.Establish and enforce brand governance standards to ensure consistency, compliance, and differentiation.Partner with Legal and Compliance to ensure all marketing and communications meet regulatory requirements.3. Product Launch & Go-to-Market StrategyLead end-to-end go-to-market (GTM) strategy and execution for new products and business lines.Partner with Product, Underwriting, Actuarial, and Sales to align product development with market demand and distribution readiness.Oversee product positioning, messaging, and campaign strategies to drive successful adoption and revenue growth.4. New Company & Market Launch StrategyLead marketing strategy and execution for the launch of new companies and business entities.Develop scalable frameworks and playbooks to support repeatable and efficient market entry.Ensure alignment between new entities and enterprise strategy while maintaining distinct market positioning.5. Product Marketing & Sales EnablementBuild and lead product marketing capabilities, including competitive analysis, positioning, and messaging.Develop sales enablement tools, training materials, and resources to support distribution channels and agent engagement.Partner with Sales leadership to drive agent acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies.6. Communications Strategy & Executive MessagingOversee all internal and external communications, including corporate messaging, executive communications, and stakeholder engagement.Ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across all communication channels, including marketing campaigns, digital platforms, and internal communications.Support executive leadership with presentations and strategic messaging.7. Digital, Content & Channel StrategyLead the development and execution of a multi-channel marketing strategy, including digital platforms, websites, and social media.Expand brand presence and engagement across channels beyond traditional platforms.Utilize analytics and data insights to optimize performance and inform decision-making.8. Organizational Leadership & Team DevelopmentBuild, lead, and develop a high-performing Marketing & Communications team.Establish scalable structures, processes, and workflows to support growth and operational efficiency.Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.9. Budgeting & Vendor ManagementDevelop and manage the enterprise marketing budget, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.Oversee vendor relationships, agency partnerships, and contract negotiations in collaboration with Finance and Legal.Ensure cost-effective allocation of resources while maintaining high-quality deliverables.10. Events, Engagement & Brand ExperienceProvide leadership and oversight of enterprise events, including conferences, agent engagement initiatives, and recognition programs.Ensure all events reinforce brand identity and support business objectives.11. Data, Insights & Performance ManagementEstablish a data-driven marketing function with robust reporting, analytics, and performance tracking.Provide regular executive-level insights and recommendations to leadership.Continuously improve marketing effectiveness through data analysis and market intelligence.QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree requiredMaster’s degree (MBA or Marketing/Communications) preferredExperience10+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or brand leadershipMinimum of 5+ years in senior leadership rolesExperience in insurance (P&C), MGA, or other regulated industries strongly preferredProven experience supporting product launches, market expansion, and/or multi-entity organizationsCore CompetenciesStrategic thinking with strong execution alignmentExecutive presence and ability to influence at the C-suite levelExpertise in go-to-market strategy and product commercializationStrong understanding of insurance distribution and market dynamicsLeadership and team-building capabilitiesExcellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skillsFinancial and business acumenAbility to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environmentWorking Conditions & TravelTravel as required to support multi-state operations, market expansion, and enterprise initiatives
