Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Plastics MoldingA plastics manufacturer is expanding its overmolding and silicone molding capability and needs an engineer who can build stable processes, lead launches, and solve difficult molding problems in real production environments. This is not a maintenance engineering role. They need someone who understands manufacturing engineering in a molding environment including scientific molding, tooling interaction, process development, equipment launches, and commercialization of complex molding programs.WHY THIS ROLE EXISTSThe business is investing heavily in overmolding and future LSR capability while continuing to support highly technical applications.Existing teams can support production processing, but they need a stronger technical leader who can own launches, improve repeatability, work directly with tooling suppliers, and help scale manufacturing capability internally. The gap is around launch ownership, scaling new capability, and bridging tooling, validation, and manufacturing execution. This role has significant hands-on interaction with tooling, processing, launches, and manufacturing teams on the production floor.WHAT YOU’LL OWN• Lead overmolding and injection molding launches from concept through production handoff• Develop robust DOE-driven process windows and optimize process stability• Work directly with mold shops and tooling suppliers on modifications and process improvements• Improve cycle times, scrap reduction, and repeatability across molding operations• Support future LSR/silicone molding capability expansion• Partner with quality, engineering, operations, suppliers, and program management teams• Mentor technicians and junior engineers on troubleshooting and process development• Help scale new manufacturing capability from development into stable production executionWHAT STRONG CANDIDATES LOOK LIKE• Strong injection molding and overmolding process expertise• Experience leading launches successfully from tooling through production• Scientific molding and DOE process development capability• Hands-on troubleshooting depth in molding environments• Strong tooling interaction and mold qualification experience• Thermoplastics experience required• Experience in highly regulated or tight-tolerance molding environments highly valued• LSR or silicone molding exposure strongly preferred• Comfortable balancing project leadership with hands-on floor supportWHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU• Opportunity to help build and scale overmolding and LSR capability• High visibility engineering role with meaningful ownership• Exposure to advanced manufacturing applications• Strong work life balance with limited overtime culture (4x10s)• Stable engineering team with cross functional support• Compensation flexibility for top technical talent• Competitive benefits packageWHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT• Not a maintenance or sustaining engineering position• Not heavily bureaucratic or layered• Not limited to supporting mature existing programs• Not ideal for candidates without launch ownership experienceIf you enjoy solving difficult molding problems, building scalable manufacturing processes, and owning launches from tooling through production, this could be a strong fit for a confidential conversation.
