Job SummaryThe Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that the designated department follows the facility maintenance plan and for executing a program of continual growth and development for the maintenance team.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, and oversee maintenance employees who maintain, service, and repair mechanical equipment in designated areaEnsure facility maintenance activities and work orders are completed in a timely manner; create and maintain records and reports as requiredWork closely with production to maximize the effectiveness of projects and PM’s; communicate daily with the Plant Engineer to discuss matters and take directionMaintain production equipment in a manner that meets organization standards and ensure machinery is performing to the highest standard possibleMonitor and control downtime and provide solutions to reduce downtimeProvide technical guidance, direction, and develop specifications for supplies, parts, equipment, and services requested of contractorsEnsure proper instruction and training of maintenance crew in methods and procedures, proper use of equipment, general preventative maintenance, systems' maintenance and repair, and proper safety protocols Maintain a maintenance crew that is cross trained and able to step into different roles to ensure crewing changes do not impact production needsEnsure scheduled maintenance is completed and coordinate projects with sub-contractorsEstablish and implement preventive maintenance programs and proceduresRequisition tools, equipment, and suppliesPromote and drive succession development with areas of responsibilityNOTE this description is not intended to be all-inclusive. An employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization; these duties are considered marginal.Minimum Qualifications (Required)Must be 18 years of age or olderMust be able to work in the United States without sponsorshipHigh School diploma or GED3-5 Years management experience in an industrial maintenance environment Proven experience of supervising, planning, and scheduling hourly and maintenance salaried personnelDemonstrated working knowledge of CMMS systems and spreadsheet acumen (Microsoft suite)Proven organizational skills Demonstrated strong knowledge and troubleshooting of overhead conveying systems, conveyors, HVAC, hydraulics, compressed air systems, electrical systems, and equipment utilized in food processing Read, write, and orally communicate in English and ability to work with no or little supervisionPreferred Qualifications5+ years in the meat slaughter industryPost high school education, associate, or bachelor’s degreePrevious management experience in meat slaughter facilityBilingual English / SpanishKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesGood computer skills ability to use designated programs including Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)Display a strong work ethic and a professional attitude and appearanceMust be assertive and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environmentAbility to perform consistent, accurate work with minimal direction, and work successfully as part of a teamStrong communication and interpersonal skillsDevelop and maintain effective employee relationsEncourage professional team buildingFollow and enforce safety rules, housekeeping, and proper operation of equipmentFollow and monitor proper safety equipment usage and safety practices.
