Maintenance and Custodial Supervisor
Position Title:Maintenance and Custodial SupervisorReports to: Director of Construction, Buildings and Grounds Classification: Exempt, 260 day position JOB SUMMARY: The Maintenance and Custodial Supervisor ensures effective leadership of all maintenance and custodial staff and supports both grounds and building maintenance across the district. This role helps provide students, staff, and families with a clean, attractive, welcoming, and well-functioning physical learning environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOversees and performs repairs to building, plumbing, lighting, and general repairPerforms weekend security checks required (security checks divided between this position and other facilities personnel)Determines maintenance and custodial priorities on a week to week basisEstablishes cadence with the Director of Construction, Grounds and Buildings to review project and budget statusServices and maintains all district-owned equipment, tools, supplies and vehiclesStores, inventories and makes recommendations on the purchase or replacement of all district-owned tools, equipment, and supplies Provides input on equipment acquisition and budgetProvides guidance and recommendations on hiring and termination decisions.Diagnoses and identifies light equipment parts to order for repairLoads and unloads trucks; spreads sand, gravel, and dirt; moves and carries heavy materials such as pipe, lumber, gravel, sand, and furnitureOperates mechanized equipment including but not limited to motor vehicles, vacuum sweeper, tractor, grass mower, and snowplowAssists skilled workers in a variety of assignments such as digging and refilling ditches, breaking concrete, mixing mortar, asphalt repair, and running errandsShovels snow from sidewalks and driveways and spread sand, salt, or cinders to prevent slippingRemoves litter and performs landscaping duties to maintain and care for school groundsRepairs and installs fences and outdoor playground equipmentProvides training, supervision, and evaluation of district maintenance and building custodial staffProvide guided direction to maintenance and custodial staffConduct routine check-ins with maintenance and custodial staffBe available to and communicate with staff Establish schedules/routines for staffMonitor/approve staff time sheets and absencesEvaluate and maintain appropriate budgets for the maintenance and custodial areasPerforms other duties and responsibilities as assignedSUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIESThe Maintenance and Custodial Supervisor is responsible for supervising maintenance and custodial staff members. The role involves extended periods of computer work. The employee may need to speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously. The employee may need to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and occasionally may need to lift up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Additionally, the position may involve regular travel within the district.
