Travel RN - Med/Surg

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology unit position requiring an Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC) and a minimum of 2 years of inpatient experience.Job Details• Medical/Surgical unit with a primarily oncology patient population in an inpatient hospital setting,• Common diagnoses include AKI, sepsis, septic shock, cancer, malignant neoplasms, ARF, encephalopathy, FTT, diabetic foot ulcers, and OD,• Chemotherapy and biotherapy administration via IV, PO, or injection is part of the role,• Target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6; ratios may be higher during periods of increased census,• Unit census is 42 patients daily,• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15),• Every other weekend required,• On-call required if called off on a pre-scheduled shift; missed shifts must be made up,• Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations, including inpatient holding in the ED,• Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters,• EMR: Epic; Medication dispensing: Pyxis; Communication framework: SBAR,• Contract length: 13-26 weeks,Job Requirements• Active NC or Compact RN license required,• Active ONC (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification required,• Current BLS certification required,• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in an inpatient setting required,• Required clinical skills: Med/Surg, colostomy care, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, heparin and insulin drips, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac,• Must pass EKG testing prior to start,• Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending at time of consideration is acceptable),• Preferred: CPI certification, charge nurse experience, OCN certification,Additional Information• Orientation consists of 24 hours (2 shifts) with weekly orientation sessions; 8-10 hours of pre-start online modules are also required,• Attendance at monthly staff meetings is expected,• Scrub colors: navy blue and white,• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays,• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO is permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation,• Candidates who have previously worked for this health system as permanent, PRN, or EP staff must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required,• Travel pairs are welcome, though each traveler must have their own transportation and be flexible with differing schedules,• Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be eligible at a local rate,
