Travel RN - Med/Surg Tele

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a high-acuity MS/Tele Float Pool position supporting an ED Holding unit, requiring at least 2 years of experience and telemetry skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management.Job Details• ED Holding (EDIP) inpatient holding area located within the Emergency Department, serving adult patients awaiting inpatient bed placement with any medical/surgical diagnosis,• Float pool position with expected floating to ED and MedSurg areas; PCU-level patients possible,• Patient ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU-level patients,• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15), 36 hours per week,• Every other weekend required,• Required skills include: MS/Tele, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, use of Rapid Response Teams, colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, renal failure management, blood product administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, heparin and insulin administration, isolation precautions, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula/oxygen mask management, portable oxygen, oral suctioning, and tracheostomy management,• Preferred skills include: NIHSS, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, port access, central line blood draw, IV starts, CVA care, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, TBI, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and wound care/wound vac,• EMR: Epic (documentation); Pyxis (medication); SBAR (communication),• Schedule is manager-assigned,• 13-week minimum contract length; longer contracts available,Job Requirements• Active NC RN license or compact RN license required (may submit with license pending),• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (may submit with certifications pending),• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required,• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and MS/Tele nursing skills required,• Must pass an EKG test prior to start,• Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable),Additional Information• This is a high-acuity, mixed patient unit; all candidates will be interviewed,• Unit orientation is 12 hours; pre-start online modules of approximately 8-10 hours are required and must be completed annually,• Navy scrubs required,• Contract staff are assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters; unit consolidation and reassignment may occur mid-contract,• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays,• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation,• Any previous permanent, PRN, or EP employee of the health system must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required,• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a modified rate,• Travel pairs are allowed; each must have their own transportation and be flexible with differing schedules,
