Associate Principal – Mechanical Leader (MEP)
A globally recognized multidisciplinary engineering and design consultancy, is seeking an Associate Principal level Mechanical Engineering leader to support the continued growth of its Life Sciences practice across the Bay Area.This is a high-impact leadership opportunity focused on expanding technical capabilities, strengthening client relationships, and supporting growth across one of the country’s most active life sciences and advanced technology markets.The successful candidate will play a key role in leading technically complex laboratory, R&D, pharmaceutical, and science-focused projects while also contributing strategically to business development, market positioning, and team leadership initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical engineering design and project delivery for medium-to-large scale Life Sciences and laboratory projectsAct as Engineer of Record across technically complex facilitiesManage multiple concurrent projects including planning, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and quality oversightServe as a key technical and client-facing lead throughout project lifecyclesMentor and guide multidisciplinary engineering teamsSupport business development activities including proposals, presentations, networking, and relationship managementContribute to strategic growth initiatives within the Life Sciences marketSupport the integration of sustainable and innovative engineering solutionsCoordinate closely with leadership teams on client development and target accountsDesired BackgroundBachelor’s degree in Mechanical EngineeringActive PE license in California15+ years of experience within building engineering consultingStrong experience delivering Life Sciences, laboratory, pharmaceutical, or R&D facilitiesProven project leadership and team management capabilitiesStrong communication and client relationship skillsExperience managing project budgets, schedules, and technical deliveryFamiliarity with multidisciplinary project environments and industry standardsPreferred ExperienceExposure to business development and strategic growth initiativesExperience participating in industry events, conferences, or technical forumsSustainability-focused project experienceCompensation & BenefitsCompensation is expected to be in the region of $180k–$245k base salary, depending on experience and market alignment, alongside a highly competitive overall benefits package.This opportunity offers:Flexible working arrangementsStrong long-term progression opportunitiesExposure to technically challenging and high-profile projectsCollaborative multidisciplinary project environmentsCompetitive retirement and bonus structuresFor a confidential discussion regarding the client, team structure, and opportunity, please apply directly or contact GH Engage.
