Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) – Internal FloaterEmployment Type: Full-TimeLocation: Nebraska (In‐State Travel Required)Travel: Approximately 50–75% statewidePosition OverviewThe Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) – Internal Floater provides comprehensive biomedical equipment support across multiple healthcare facilities throughout Nebraska. This role is designed to flexibly support sites with staffing gaps, increased workload, or special initiatives. The BMET Floater will travel regularly within the state to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and safety inspections on a wide range of medical devices, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and hospital policies.Support a broad mix of medical devices, which may include general biomed, diagnostic, therapeutic, patient monitoring, and life-support equipment (dependent on experience level).Serve as a temporary or supplemental BMET resource at assigned facilities, adapting quickly to different environments, teams, and workflows.Respond to service calls and equipment issues in a timely manner, prioritizing patient safety and clinical impact.Accurately document all work performed in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, NFPA, FDA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.Partner with clinical staff, vendors, and site leadership to resolve equipment-related issues and coordinate repairs or replacements.Assist with equipment installations, device recalls, hazard alerts, and inventory activities as needed.Provide basic equipment operation guidance to clinical users when appropriate.Travel extensively within Nebraska, including overnight stays, as required by facility assignments.QualificationsAssociate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent military/technical training).Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a BMET in a healthcare environment (BMET II–level experience preferred; level may flex based on candidate).Strong working knowledge of biomedical equipment maintenance and repair practices.Ability to work independently across multiple sites with minimal supervision.Proficiency with CMMS systems and standard diagnostic tools.Valid driver's license with the ability to travel 50–75% within the state of Nebraska.Preferred QualificationsCBET certification or progress toward certification.Experience supporting multiple hospitals or healthcare facilities.Imaging, anesthesia, or specialty equipment experience (a plus, but not required).Strong customer service and communication skills.Skills & CompetenciesHigh adaptability and flexibility in fast-changing environmentsStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilityExcellent time management and organizational skillsProfessional, patient-focused approach to service deliveryAbility to build rapport quickly with clinical and technical teamsWhat We OfferStable, full-time employment with consistent hoursMileage reimbursement and travel-related expense coverageExposure to a variety of facilities, equipment types, and technologiesSupportive clinical engineering leadership and team environmentOpportunities for professional growth and certification support
