About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Payments Solutions Consultant to serve as a critical bridge between our clients, sales team, and product organization. This role is responsible for ensuring our payment solutions are properly scoped, technically sound, and successfully implemented within client platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in payments infrastructure and product capabilities , along with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable solutions. This individual will work directly with merchants and internal stakeholders to design solutions that align with client needs and drive successful outcomes. Key Responsibilities Client-Facing Solution Design Partner directly with merchants to understand their technical environments, business requirements, and payment workflows Design tailored payment solutions that integrate seamlessly into client platforms Provide expert guidance on how to implement and optimize payment products within various technical ecosystems Sales Partnership & Deal Support Act as a key technical partner to the sales team throughout the deal lifecycle Support discovery, solutioning, and client presentations by articulating product capabilities and technical feasibility Ensure all solutions are accurately scoped , aligned with client needs, and achievable within platform constraints Technical Expertise & Implementation Guidance Serve as a subject matter expert on payments products, APIs, integrations, and infrastructure Translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders Collaborate with product and engineering teams to address client requirements and implementation considerations Solution Scoping & Documentation Define and document solution requirements, including integration approach, dependencies, and technical specifications Identify potential risks, gaps, or limitations early in the process and propose viable solutions Ensure a smooth handoff to implementation and delivery teams Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with product, engineering, and customer success teams to ensure successful deployment and ongoing optimization Provide feedback to internal teams to help improve product capabilities and client experience Qualifications 5–10+ years of experience in payments, fintech, or related technical consulting roles Deep understanding of payment processing, gateways, APIs, and merchant integrations Proven experience working directly with clients to design and implement technical solutions Strong ability to bridge technical and business conversations Experience supporting sales teams in a pre-sales or solution consulting capacity Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills What Success Looks Like Payment solutions are consistently well-scoped, accurate, and aligned with client platforms Strong partnership with sales leads to higher win rates and smoother deal cycles Successful client implementations with minimal rework or technical gaps Clients view you as a trusted advisor for payment strategy and implementation Why Join Spire At Spire, we're building something that's not only innovative, but meaningful.
