Senior Embedded Software Engineer

DEKA Research & Development is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team working on cutting-edge medical devices. You will have the opportunity to work on every layer of software, from embedded system device drivers and control loops up to cloud connectivity and UI development. You will be part of a cross-disciplinary team, working alongside electrical, mechanical, and biomedical engineers to create a product that will improve outcomes and quality of life for millions of people worldwide.This is an on-site role; remote and hybrid are not available.How you will make an impact as a Senior Embedded Software Engineer:Design, implement, and verify operation of embedded softwareAnalyze, create, and update requirements and proceduresSolve complex technical problems, build products, and make a difference in the worldProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting best practices in software design, testing, and documentationContribute to a collaborative engineering culture that values continuous learning and technical excellenceSkills you will need to be successful: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience, and 5+ years of relevant experienceDemonstrated experience mentoring or coaching junior engineers in best software practicesExperience with Python and C/C++Experience designing and implementing software/hardware systems for medical devicesRTOS and embedded systems development (examples include Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Micro C, embedded Linux)Experience defining software requirementsExperience defining requirements, developing, and documenting the architecture of a large software systemExperience developing and verifying software test procedures to meet software requirementsStrong troubleshooting skillsDemonstrated ability to adapt rapidly to changing circumstances and technologyExcellent communication skills and attention to detailMust have a maker-type personalityControls engineering experience beneficial (but not required)About DEKA:One hour from the beach, Boston, and the mountains, the historic Amoskeag Millyard once housed the largest textile mills in the world.
