NC MF HVAC - Foreman
Reports To: Field SupervisorShift/Hours: 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. or 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. depending on the seasonPosition OverviewThe HVAC Foreman will oversee up to 10 workers on any given job site. It is the HVAC Foreman's responsibility to manage all activities in the installation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in single family residences, townhomes, apartments and condos, and to provide leadership to their team. The Foreman ensures all installations are done to code and Villara's exceptional quality standards, and that all communication with Villara Management and employees, Site Superintendents, and other trade leaders is done in a professional and productive manner.Technical Responsibilities of the JobGeneralAnswers directly to General Foreman and/or Field SuperintendentDemonstrated expertise in all activities needed to install HVAC systems in bid timeOversee up to 10 workers and demonstrate the ability to run one or more job sites at a timeOversee multiple HVAC installations including training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; correcting and applauding performance; addressing complaints and resolving problemsProtect all company owned tools, materials, and equipmentLogisticsOrder tools, materials, and equipment for assigned projects according to budgetOversee the physical inventory of materials at assigned job sites, and keep job site bins properly stocked and very orderly; avoid overstocking and unnecessary material ordersUpdate FAB changes and ensure corrections are properly submitted in a timely mannerInitiate daily Quality/Control checks on jobs underway in his/her area, including inspections on work quality, employee productivity and morale, site cleanliness, and adherence to safety protocolsDemonstrate some labor budget knowledgeLabor ManagementSchedule appropriate manpowerProvide job site projections to SuperintendentWork with team members to produce the greatest possible profit level for the company; increase and decrease labor costs by continually monitoring and coaching team member performance levelsEnsure the Time Card App is completed daily, and support assigned employees in completing their timecards during or at the end of each and every work dayEnsure back charge controls are in place and that company response is swift and quickly handled; identify employee training needs to avoid future back chargesAssist in confirming time for assigned workers on a daily basisSchedulingWork with employees to produce quality work in bid time for completion of job assignmentInterpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties accordinglyRegularly communicate with Contractors/Superintendents and maintain a professional and profitable business relationship at all timesSafety & Lean/Continuous ImprovementSupport, train, and follow Company policies, goals, and directives to the field personnelConduct daily or weekly safety tailgates without failAttend required sub-contractor meetingsImplement Lean Principles including 5S of Jobsite and BinsAssist in the implementation of standard work processes while making recommendations for improvementTraining & Development of Team MembersConduct daily team huddles to assign work and motivate employeesCheck-in with team throughout the day to answer questions and ensure engagementCommunicate with General Foreman or Superintendent any performance issues and document all corrective conversationsInitiate hands-on training with all new and existing employees, always leading by exampleEnsure new hires receive proper training and supportNavigate Dozuki on Company Phone and train team on how to use the guides as learning toolsDemonstrate the ability to read blueprints and designs, and to train others to do soOperate a Sawzall and train others to operate oneEnsure you and your team members attend assigned Corporate TrainingOther duties as assignedLeadership ResponsibilitiesPromote a positive work environment while ensuring company's overall goals and policies are adhered toLead team meetings as well as one-on-one coaching sessions with assigned team membersLead yourself and your team to produce quality work in bid timeLead in the development of your team members' careers by training new and existing employees in all aspects of HVAC Installation and Start upDemonstrate Lean Leadership: Clean and organized job sites and bins, Leader Standard Work, Lean Training for yourself and your teamDemonstrate process discipline and follow through on assigned Leader Standard WorkFollow and enforce safety proceduresEnsure breaks and meals are taken at appropriate timesAvoid use of personal cell phones during work hours except on scheduled breaks/lunch timeCoordinate with the Career Development Department to ensure employees have access to corporate coaching and trainingTraining, Certification, and EducationBasic Foreman Leadership Training requiredDemonstrate knowledge of California CodeProficiency in mathematical concepts such as basic algebra and geometryPossess a valid driver's license and an insurable driving recordBasic proficiency in Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word, and Excel is preferredGraduate of Mechanical Apprenticeship Program is preferredWorking conditions:Job sites can be loud, dusty, and very hot/coldSupervisor will not always be availableMaterials can be held up or missingMay be working in elevated areas (up to 3 stories)Solution-focused approaches are the most successfulWhat position is the next level up?General ForemanWhat are the additional skills that are required to promote into the next level-up position?Ability to lead more than 10 workers and to effectively run multiple job sitesAbility to make sure inspections are being called and passedDemonstrated ability to stay on budgetDemonstrate strong organizational and leadership skillsMust be recommended by your Superintendent and ManagerJ-18808-Ljbffr
