Senior Fund Accountant
JOB TITLE: Fund AccountantEMPLOYER: Alta Trust CompanyDEPARTMENT: Investment OperationsREPORTS TO: Investment Operations ManagerEFFECTIVE DATE: 5/15/2025SUMMARYAlta Trust Company is seeking a fund accounting professional to assist our investment operations team with daily accounting and reconciliation tasks. This role focuses on accurate processing of daily files, reconciliations, and journal entries to support senior accountants and ensure the integrity of fund accounting records.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Load daily custodian and transfer agent files into the fund accounting system.Reconcile daily cash balances and transactions to identify and resolve discrepancies.Match fund positions against custodian records; research and clear breaks.Corporate Actions ProcessingReconcile investor transactions and unit balances to ensure accuracy.Book double-sided journal entries to clear cash breaks.Book trades and adjustments to resolve position breaks.Assist with daily NAV processes, transaction postings, and other routine fund accounting activities.Work closely with internal fund accountants to escalate and resolve reconciliation issues in a timely manner.ReportingPerforms other related duties as assigned by management.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This job has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS:Experience: 1–2 years in investment operations, fund accounting or a similar field, ideally with experience in private funds, retirement funds, or investment management.Education: Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.Technical Skills: Familiarity with accounting or portfolio management systems and Excel skills.Analytical Skills: High degree of accuracy and thoroughness in reconciliations and data entry; demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities.Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and escalate issues appropriately; strong verbal and written communication skills.Other Skills: Reliable, process-oriented, and able to meet daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment.COMPETENCIES:Attention to Detail – Supplies an exceptional level of accuracy and thoroughness; identifies inconsistencies; verifies calculations; ensures compliance with industry standards.Analytical – Synthesizes information; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data; follows workflows and procedures.Adaptability – Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.Initiative – Volunteers readily; undertakes self-development activities; seeks increased responsibilities; asks for and offers help when needed.Quality – Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality.Salary ranges from $70,000.00 – $90,000.00 plus additional discretionary bonus based on corporate and individual's performance.Do not apply if you if you do not have the qualifications and competencies listed above.
