Fiber Assembler TechnicianJoin world-class experts in finding answers to our customers toughest questions as a Fiber Assembler Technician to work in our Orlando, FL manufacturing facility. Top applicants will be dedicated, detail-oriented and hard working. The proper polishing of our SMA connectors is essential to the operations and use of the fiber optic connectors in our product.Role and Responsibilities:Ability to read Fiber schematics and build Fibers to specification.Position requires technician to pull material per specification, Fiber, Jacket, Connector etc necessary to build fiber.Attention to detail, follow schematics specification to build correct product.Ability use fine dexterity hands and fingersAbility to use small hand toolsNotify team leader or supervisor of any problems that may be causing a delay in production schedule or possible quality defectsMaintain, read, and understand technical documentation (SOPs and work instructions)Make continuity and quality checks on work in process and completed fiber prior to turning work inAbility to work independently without direct supervisionUse of a microscope to inspect fiber and connectors for defects such as scratches, cracks, and to verify light passageProper use of dial indicator for verifying connector toleranceMaintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly conditionAbility to listen and executeSelf-starterOther duties as assignedAbout the CandidateAttention to detail, ability to multi-task, ability to work alone and/or in groupsAbility to learn new skills in a timely manner, interpret visual aids and work overtime when neededExperience polishing and terminating fiber-optic connections is a plusProficient with fiber optic cable, various connectors, testing, documentationFamiliar with polishers, gauges, lapping paper, torques, alcohols and acetones is a plusAbility to troubleshoot damaged fiber, effectively and efficientlyGood hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills performing repetitive motionsBe capable of measuring to small tolerances 1 to 20 millimetersGood English reading comprehensionAbout the CompanyOcean Optics pioneered miniature spectrometers and deliver spectral solutions to researchers, OEMs, and industrial customers, also designs and builds industrial-grade photonics systems for material inspection, chemical identification, and quality assurance.At Ocean We Measure What Matters, and our Mission is to design precise photonics systems to solve customer measurement challenges to make the world safer, cleaner, and healthier.
